Transform Your Business by Creating and Implementing a One-Page Action Plan

Has your business growth stagnated? Are your profits dipping? Have you decided that the only way forward is to make alterations to your business model, but just not quite sure how you’re going to achieve this?  To prevent your thinking from going off in tangents as you try to work out how will proceed; take the time to create a one-page action plan. This simple plan will help to keep you focused and on track for implementing change.

The plan should be to ensure your new vision is fulfilled in a timely fashion and that each person with responsibilities is held accountable for achievement of targets. How to get started then? First of all, write down your vision, then ask yourself the following:

  • Where is the business now?
  • Where do I want it to be in 5-10 years time?
  • Where do I want to be in 12 months from now?
  • What are the top 3 strategies I need to have in place?
  • Who is responsible for meeting and achieving targets and by when?

Then sit down and create a 90-day action plan in the first instance. It may be helpful at this stage to have those staff members present who will be responsible for achieving targets. Or, you may wish to get the plan in place then present it your staff for discussion and fine-tuning. But it is imperative that everyone is on board with the changes and how you are going to implement them.

What are your top 3 strategies to help you to get where you want to be? Strategies might include, creating a new website, introducing a more efficient time management system, or developing a new advertising strategy, perhaps via social media. Whichever strategies you choose to implement, make sure they are the ones that are most important in helping you to achieve your goals.

Remember, goals should be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound. Be careful to choose the most appropriate/experienced member of staff to accomplish the task(s) put forward. When implementing a 90-day action plan, there isn’t much room to allow for errors.  Each person must be held accountable for achieving their target(s) within a specific time-frame.

Implementing the one-page plan will help to keep you focused on achieving business growth, increasing your profits, and maintaining a competitive advantage.  The plan will also serve as a solid template for creating future business and marketing strategies.
